KAMP Celebrates Decade of Achievement with Colourful Anniversary Event

The Kerala Association of Muslim Professionals (KAMP), a dynamic community of over 400 families in the UK, celebrated its 10th anniversary on 13 July 2024. Comprised primarily of doctors, engineers, IT professionals, business owners, and other professionals from Kerala, KAMP has made substantial contributions to society through its dedication to community service and knowledge sharing.

To mark this milestone, KAMP organised a special event titled “10 Years of KAMP” alongside its annual meet at Caroline Chisholm School, Wooldale Centre for Learning, Wooldale Rd, Northampton NN4 6TP. The event highlighted KAMP’s achievements over the past decade, including a presentation of the individuals behind the organisation. It also showcased the talents within the community and provided valuable networking opportunities for all members.

The celebration featured a presentation of KAMP’s story by Chair & Co-Founder Dr. Riaz and Secretary Mr. Rubas, emphasising its charitable efforts. This presentation also highlighted KAMP’s approach to charity and its promotion of education within the wider community through collaborations with various like-minded groups and communities.

Founded in 2014, KAMP aims to preserve the cultural heritage and values of the Muslim and Malayalee communities. This non-sectarian, non-political, and socially inclusive group focuses on acquiring and imparting knowledge, promoting social welfare, community cohesion, and education. KAMP organises educational, social, cultural, interfaith, sports, and recreational activities.

The event was attended by notable guests, including Northampton Deputy Mayor & Councillor Mrs. Jane Birch, former Councillor and Town Mayor Mr. Philip Abraham, UKMA President Dr. Biju Peringathara, Prof. Kasim Salim, and renowned record-breaking cyclist Mr. Fayis Ashraf Ali.

The event which began at 2:00 PM was inaugurated by the Deputy Mayor included awards presented in several categories: Prof. Basheer for Engineering, Mr. Sebastian Abraham of Daily Delight for Business, Shinaz Navas for Young Talent, Mr. Joe Philip for Medicine, Mr. Abdulsalam Kunummal received the Special KAMP Award, and Dr. A. Siddiq Pulakkal was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

This was followed by children’s entertainment and evening entertainment culminated in a musical night, featuring a special performance by Fahad Yaff.

The colourful evening entertainment and festivities provided a perfect backdrop to celebrate a decade of KAMP’s dedication to community service, cultural preservation, and professional development. Attendees enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere and the opportunity to reflect on the significant achievements of the past ten years.
