The family of Dr. K. K. Abraham sadly announces his passing on 19th January 2025, while on a Christmas holiday with his loved ones in Cochin, Kerala.
A resident of Basildon, United Kingdom, Dr. K. K. Abraham was a proud native of Kanjirapally. He was an alumnus of St. Joseph’s European Boys High School, Bangalore (Batch of 1961) and pursued his MBBS at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal.
Initially, he practised medicine at Llandudno General Hospital in Wales and later moved to Basildon in the 1990s, where he served as a GP. He was a popular and much-loved general practitioner.
He was the beloved son of K. K. Kuruvilla Anathanam (1912–2006) and Lucy Vellanikkaren, Cochin, and the cherished grandson of Kunjuvarkey Kuruvilla Kallarackal Anathanam (1849–1932), one of the pioneering Indian rubber planters in Kanjirapally and Malabar.
Dr. Abraham was a devoted member of his school alumni and had the joy of attending the Christmas Dinner of the Kerala Chapter of the St. Joseph Boys High School Alumni in December 2024, held at the Cochin Yacht Club. He fondly reminisced with his fellow boarders about their shared memories, including traveling together on the “Island Express” train to Bangalore during school vacations—a tradition initiated by his father, who introduced the community to the school in the mid-1940s.
Dr. K. K. Abraham is survived by his loving wife Mary Abraham, his son George, daughters Lucy (Lulu) and Teresa, and his grandchildren Annie, Holly, Maya, Matthew, Andrew, and Karthik.

May His Soul Rest in the Arms of Our Lord Jesus .
KK, as he was popularly known during his medical college days, was my senior but we knew each other rather well, especially with our common interest in sports. He was a very good hockey player, a pucca gentleman and was friendly with everyone. It was only last week that I came to know that we were second cousins on my maternal side. We pray for his family and may his noble soul rest in peace.
KK was my classmate and we played together in the TT team. He was very good hockey player too. He was kind, considerate and always helpful. Nice as nice can be – a very good person. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. May his soul RIP .
Avarachen is a devoted Catholic who attended the Catholic Church together with his family every Sunday. I knew him only after he moved to Basildon to join our practice when Dr. Dhadli and I retired.
He was a very popular doctor along his patients and a thorough gentleman.
We all miss him for every.
