KALA Annual Day Celebrations Set for October 19 with Vayalar Tribute

The Kerala Arts and Literary Association (KALA) UK is to hold its 28th Annual Day celebrations, which will take place on October 19, 2024, at the Centenary Theatre of Berkhamsted School, Kings Road, Berkhamsted, HP4 3BG. The event, titled Vayalar Sandhya, promises an enchanting evening filled with poetry, music, and live performances.

This year’s celebrations will honour the legendary Malayalam poet and lyricist, Vayalar Ramavarma, with a special focus on his timeless works. The chief guest for the evening will be his son, the esteemed Malayalam poet and lyricist, Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma, who will also receive the prestigious KALA Puraskaram.

In addition to the awards ceremony, Malayalam Poetry Competition for 2024. Two outstanding entries have been selected as winners, and the successful poets will have the honour of receiving their awards from Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma during the KALA Annual Day event.

Attendees will be treated to vibrant dance performances, a dramatisation of Vayalar’s life and poetry, and a live musical extravaganza featuring some of his most beloved songs. The evening will conclude with a delicious dinner, offering guests a chance to immerse themselves in Kerala’s cultural heritage.
